This well researched, well written account of the work to determine the cause of yellow fever focuses on Walter Reed and his team of doctors. The author notes that the work of Cuban researchers is not as well documented although was just as valuable in this search. The author tells of the courage of doctors and volunteers in Cuba as they tried to pinpoint the cause of this dreadful disease. This story reads like a detective story and is written in easy to follow and very descriptive text. Illustrated with historical photographs throughout. Includes glossary, index, chapter notes, appendix of volunteer names and notes. |
