The Scholastic state series called "America the Beautiful" has had a major face lift and extensive internal surgery. This New Hampshire text is part of the third series written by Deborah Kent has been updated to appeal to our new generation of readers who want prolific sidebars, visually interesting page design, gorgeous color. "WOW" fact insets, graphic organizers, and easy to follow organization. Forget the dowdy style of the first and second series...and think information with pizazz. Besides the expected discussion of Land, First People, Exploration and Settlement, Modern Times, People, Economy, Government, and such, a fun Travel Guide section includes exciting highlights of things to do and things to see. The last section of the book is a teacher's dream come true. It is called "Project Room" with Writing Projects (creating a campaign brochure, etc.), Art Projects (illustrate the state song, which is included), Science, Technology and Math Projects (make weather maps), Primary VS. Secondary Sources (explains the difference and where you can find them), Timeline, Fast Facts, and Biographical Dictionary. One page spread is devoted to a menu for the region with related recipes. Words to Know are included on the page where the words appear as well as in the appended Glossary. A comprehensive Index completes the text. Looking for updating your state books?
