This picture book is a retelling of a classic Jewish folktale. In this story, Rachel is young girl that has been raised with riddles. Her whole life revolves around solving and making up riddles. When Jacob, a young boy in the village is determined to prove that he is smarter than Rachel, she is as determined as he to prove who is the smarter. When a young woman in need of help presents Rachel and Jacob with the trickiest riddles of all, the two children learn that the only way to solve them is to work together. Although the book is long, it is a fun read with great illustrations that has lots of teaching potential. It could be used with the teaching of folk tales, Jewish cultures or a fun lesson on riddles. This is a really great book.
