This latest adventure in the Merlin series takes place between The Lost Years of Merlin and the Great Tree of Avalon series. Basil, a strange lizard creature like no other, sets off to warn Merlin of a great danger. Along the way he looks for others of his kind and finds no kinfolk. He is helped by the wind sister, Aylah who ferries him from realm to realm on his search. This adventure begins slowly with the birth of Basil and his discovery of his strange talent of producing smells at will. The pace picks up considerably in the last half. Each chapter begins with musings of Basil about life. Young readers will love this addition to this series. They will cheer Basil on as he encounters adversity and look forward to his next adventure when he finally becomes "Merlin's Dragon". |
